| There are two ways. The easiest way is by using a lace looped around the base of the headstock, behind the nut and under the strings and tied through the hole in the top strap end. Many guitar straps come with this lace, but most people just throw them away, not knowing what it is for, or let it dangle from the bottom strap end as an ornament. If you don't have a lace on your strap, you can substitute a short, flat shoe lace in the color of your choice. The second way is to modify your guitar to have a second strap button on the heel of the neck. A strap button, with wood screw and felt washer can be purchased at your music store. If you know nothing about woodworking, or know no one knowledgeable that can help you, I would advise paying the music store to install it. If you are comfortable doing this on your own, the button should be installed around an inch (or more) from the back of the heel of the neck. It should be placed about 2/3 between where the neck heel meets the body and the center of the top of the heel. Mark the chosen spot with a center punch or brad nail. The hole should be pre drilled a bit smaller than the screw size to prevent splitting of the heel and should be at about a 45 degree angle. Screw the button on snug, but do not over tighten. You will want to check periodically over time, to see that the screw remains snug. It may never loosen, but if it does, the periodic snugging will become permanent over time.
