"Mainstream" Comics With Strong (Almost Pornographic) Sexual Content? By "mainstream" I don't mean like DC or Marvel, just one's that would be sold in a bookstore like B&N rather then an adult bookstore.
I'm thinking about writing a comic and parts of it will deal with sex and sexuality and relationships and all that jazz and I don't want to cheapen it by showing the characters undressing in the next panel show them after sex, smoking and with the sheets up and tucked over any "naughty' bits. I think if you want to show sex you should just show it honestly and not tip toe around it. I'm not saying I'm going to write a 12 long page ******** (though I could, manga's seem to be able to get away with this all the time).
so my question is are there any comics like this that have even been somewhat successful (and are not just sex from cover to cover)? |
But the problem is that when you show the bits, it becomes "adult", period
Pubic hair drived people nuts.
Not, it's not that you cannot tell a story like that (Omaha the Cat dancer is the best example), but it gets relegated to a publishing house like Eros Comics (who has to send their catalog under the guide of "Rose Comics")
What this means is that your market will be limited. B&N will sell the steamiest erotic novels, but no perverted comics |
What are some good gay web-comics or web comics about gay characters? I just want a web-comic about gay people/couples. I'm gay myself, so I would like to read about people I can relate to. It does NOT have to be erotic or sexual. I mean they can be in love or what not, but I'm not looking for anything especially pornographic. Just a nice web-comic with pretty art about gay lovers perhaps
Thanks |
Boy Meets Boy was pretty awesome. Here's a link : boymeetsboy.keenspot.com/
There's also a kind of sequel to it called Friendly Hostiltiy at friendlyhostility.com |
Why showing nipples in comics is forbidden? I noticed comic artists avoid showing nipples at all cost- men's or women's- even if the characters drawn are naked. Where did that came from? Is there some kind of a "comic law" forbidding showing nipples? Violence, gore, religious stuff, hell, even any other sexual innuendos are allowed, only the poor chests must cover or completly get rid of how important element of theirs.
I'd be very grateful to get ANY information about that. |
| American society is F-ed up. You can show violence to a young person but you can't show "naughty bits." A female nipple is categorized as a naughty bit. I hadn't noticed the no-male-nipples before, but it's the same principle; plus the lack of nipple is part of the simplification of the body that happens in comics. I'd bet when Alex Ross or someone else who specializes in photorealism includes nipples. |
What's a decent sexual medieval fantasy roleplaying chat? Seems like all the google results are just articles of morons trying to sound intellectual or scare the sort of person who believes Jack Chick comics by talking about the issue, but there aren't any relevant content-based results which is what search engines are supposed to be finding when you put in a query. |
I'd suggest:
houseeros.com
Although you are likely to find thread RPs over a chat-based RP. |
Can a man be arrested for having yaoi (Gay) comics at home? for his personal use? I heard that a guy was arrested cause some of his Gay Japanese Comics (Yaoi) were allegady showing pics of age people in sexual situations. |
keep it hidden in the closet, and you'll be fine
btw...that man was released after the courts determined that cartoons do not constitute guy pornography; i'm pretty sure that happened in the UK |
Does anyone know good ideas for comics? please nothing sexual- superheroes and anything else please. |
| How about the one where the superhero lets crime rates keep rising and then every once in a long while the superhero swoops in and fights some crime just to make everybody think he's doing them a favor. Except in this case replace superhero with oil execs and crime rates with gas prices. Wow what an analogy, I'm so freakin witty I think I'm going to pass ou........................ |
Why, in an era of sexual liberation, do we still have heroes marked by sexual renunciation? "heroes" as in heroes in comic books, or heroes in movies, or heroes in books, etc.
Please post any answers/comments you have. Thanks! |
| Great question. If we are truly liberated, we don't need to follow anyone else's ideas of "proper" or "correct" sexual behavior. We can renounce sexuality or indulge in it as we choose, as long as we don't hurt another person. Liberation should mean that WE are in control of our sexuality, NOT social norms and pressures. A hero may need tremendous focus in order to be heroic and accomplish great things, and sexuality, which is a powerful force, can be a distraction if the hero is focusing on some other goal which needs full attention. Such focus often requires sacrifice, like a normal life, or personal happiness, or even life ; sometimes the thing sacrificed may be the hero's sexuality. |
Does anyone think that there is sexual tension between Superman and Lex Luthor? every time I pick up a comic or watch a show with them fighting, they always seem to be beating around some big awkward bush, like they can't seem to confess some deep hidden feelings they have toward one another, does anyone else feel this way? |
| I think its more Lex Luthor has a in the closet crush on Supes. |
What are some good web comics? What are some clean web comics? (No swearing, no sexual humor, ect.) |
Order of the stick
